- Description: The Bengal is a domestic cat breed that appears similar to ocelots, margays and clouded leopards. By selective breeding from hybrids of the Asian leopard cat, Prionailurus bengalensis bengalensis, with domestic cat then backcrossed to domestic cats to create a domestic cat with a spotted coat of a leopard. Bengals are an intelligent and active breed which are very vocal and friendly. They are generally a bright orange to light brown color and can also be pale or off-white.
