- Description: The Eurasian eagle owl resides in much of Eurasia. It is one of the largest species of owl, smaller than the golden eagle but larger than a snowy owl. The wing span of the female is approximately 6 feet 2 inches. The males are slightly smaller. This bird has distinctive ear tufts and the wings and tail are barred. The under body is a variably hued buff, streaked with darker color. The facial disc not as notable as many other owls and the eyes are a deep orange.
